Butterfly on Thistle

Hummingbird Moth

It’s always exciting to get a first-time photo. ┬áToday I encountered a hummingbird moth for the first time.

Well, That’s a Stretch

Between this guy’s long legs and long antennas, I almost needed a wide-angle lens.

Luna Moth

I spotted this beautiful luna moth today on a fence post. Check out its funky antennae. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen one so it was my bonus capture of the day. I think its one wing was broken, though, which made me sad.

A Day with The Dragonflies

I went to a little park yesterday on a totally different quest.  But there were so many dragonflies darting around that I had to try to capture a few shots.

This is one of the largest butterflies in the world and pretty unique too. Its outside wings are a dull brown camouflage.

But this is what you see with wings unfolded. These blue, iridescent scales reflect sunlight and almost glow.
